People often get discouraged from exercising because it may seem like it’s impossible to do proper exercise without having a ton of gym equipments. That’s when the idea of home workout comes to mind.

Another source of discouragement is the false idea that you NEED to go all the way to a gym in order to workout properly. Not everyone has the time or can afford gym equipments or a gym membership.

Why You May NEED To Workout At Home

Working out at home

There are a lot of reasons why working out at home isn’t such a bad idea. I’ve listed some of my personal favorite Benefits Of Regular Workouts For Men

1. Home Workout Saves Time

Time plays a huge part for me as an individual and surely for lots of people out there. I find that it could take more time and effort to go all the way to the gym and get back. You could save this time by working out from the comfort of your home.

2. Working Out At Home Is Less Expensive

Some gym memberships can be expensive and that’s cool. A good amount of them are actually worth the price but that doesn’t mean you are automatically able to afford it.

Working out at home will help you save money in many ways. One way is transportation (depending on the distance of course). You can also save money by using household items as makeshift gym equipments.

As a human being, regular exercise should be a part of your routine. Doing will help you in the ultimate goal of living a healthy and happy life. If that doesn’t convince you, here are my personal favorite:

3. Working Out At Home Is Easier (Fight Procrastination)

Wanting to do something “the easy way” doesn’t make you lazy, it makes you effective. It’s easier to workout at home and this alone can make you want to workout more often. It’s also a way to get rid of procrastination and achieve your gym goals.

Personally I’ve changed my mind a lot in my attempts to go to the gym. You can’t do that if your ‘gym’ is right in front of you.

Setting up your gym mat is much easier than driving all the way to an actual gym. That ease is a form of encouragement for you to work out even when you’re not really feeling it.

4. Insecurity

Insecurity is something that a lot of people go through. While I admit that it’s something that you should try to get rid of, it can also affect you in your workout journey.

The thought of working out around other people in the gym sometimes freaks me out and I’m sure a lot of people can relate. This is why it won’t be a bad idea to set up your own gym in your personal space.

It’s actually very possible (and easy) to workout from the comfort of your home and without having to buy all the equipments or tools.

Tips For Working Out At Home

The comfort of exercising at home

After making the decision to start your workout journey in your house, the planning doesn’t end there. Working out at home can easily go wrong if you don’t know what you’re doing. Here’s some tips that will help:

1. Arrange A Home Workout Space

Not everyone has a home gym. At the same time it’s very important to draw out a space and dedicate this to your workout sessions.

This space has to be a bit open for air circulation and also so that you don’t bump into objects while working out. If possible, it should also be in a private area to avoid distractions while you exercise.

Another pro tip here is to get a workout mat. I learnt the hard way that it’s not a good idea to workout on the bare floor. It’s going to be extremely uncomfortable and will affect whatever you’re doing.

2. Your Home Workout Fit Is Important

It’s a bad idea to workout in normal clothes. Workout clothes like gym shorts and tights are designed to make your exercise more comfortable.

Expense is nothing to worry about because basic gym wear doesn’t cost much and it will be worth it.

3. Try To Stay Motivated

This is probably the biggest down-side to working out at home rather than going to the gym. At the gym, it’s easy to get motivation to achieve your goals because you are surrounded by examples.

You will lose focus at home if you don’t stay motivated. Here are my personal tips to stay motivated while working out at home:

  • Monitor your progress (a simple ‘before and after’ photo is enough to motivate you).
  • Set gym goals
  • Surround yourself with motivation. This includes who you follow on social media. Follow workout accounts (like me 😉) and also celebrities that take the exercise seriously.
  • Fight procrastination. Stop postponing and just do it.

4. Get Professional Help With Your Home Workout

You can’t do it on your own. Luckily the internet is filled with workout enthusiasts and professionals that offer free services. There are tons on social media as well.

I post workout tips on a regular basis on my socials and will also post here on the site as well. You can follow me and stay tuned so you can be apart of it.

Taking tips from experts will ensure that you’re making the right moves and doing workouts that are effective.

5. Get Equipments or Get Creative With Your Home Workout

Some equipments are unavoidable when working out because they make your workout better and more effective. The good news is that if you cannot afford equipments, you can replace it by being creative.

There are loads of exercise life hacks on the internet using common household items.

Using water bottles as weights for home workouts

For example, you can use water bottles as weights for certain exercises. It works the same and has the same effect. There’s loads of more life hacks out there.

That’s pretty much the basic stuff that you need to begin your workout journey at home. Enjoyed this? I post stuff like these all the time.
